Juan Villa’s award winning and Jeff nominated show returns to the Chicago stage. Empanada for a Dream transports the audience to Allen Street, in New York’s Lower East Side, everybody’s blasting music – bacchata, merengue and salsa. Everybody’s cooking – plantains, arapas, and empanadas. Boys play baseball and football on the street while the most beautiful girl watches from a window. In his living memoir Juan Francisco Villa uncovers the treasures of his family’s dark legacy.
The performances are in conjunction with The Playground Theater and Chicago Department of Cultural Arts and Special Events
